About event

“Culture. Industry. Technology.” is a forum for members of creative industries which used to be an event of technical direction and used to be called “Technology Day” for its first three years of existence has grown into an event of wider scope and objectives. For the first time, this year the event will be organized in cooperation with “Latvian Music Development Association/Latvian Music Export” and will cover a longer list of topics. The forum will take place on 23 September at culture venue Hanzas Perons. This year’s central topic is creativity and functionality – how to use technologic tools smart in order to achieve maximally creative outcome, retaining balance of ideas and possibilities. The three most important forum happenings will be devoted to this topic.

One of the central events of the forum is speech by Peggy Eisenhauer – a light and stage design artist from the U.S. She has been several times awarded with Tony award and has been nominated for numerous Broadway productions. She has created lighting solutions and stage design for more than 40 plays, has been working as lighting designer in Hollywood; her most popular work is screen adaptation of “Chicago”.

Another interesting happening at the forum will be an open discussion “KIT talk” about functionality of concert halls and houses of culture in Latvia. Discussion members will analyse both already existing and future objects of state significance from the point of view of their suitability for holding events according to the creative and technical support companies.

Music makers and producers will definitely appreciate speech by Magdalena Jensen, Head of Marketing and Baltics and Poland Regional Printing House at digital distribution platform The Orchard. The Orchard was founded in 1997 with the aim to provide independent artists the ability to sell their music to mainstream audiences. Over 20 years of its existence it has grown from a small New York-based company to a global industry leader. Their slogan is “Distribution done right” and it is going to be the topic of Magdalena’s speech.
