Reinis Zariņš. Face to Face with Crumb and Rzewski

In 2026, twelve outstanding artists come to the Hanzas perons cultural venue with specially curated concert programmes — some already known and admired by Latvian audiences, others internationally acclaimed and travelling to Latvia for the first time.

Pianist Reinis Zariņš needs no introduction, yet the evening of 15 November at Perons will be a special one — for the first time the musician comes face to face with composers George Crumb and Frederic Rzewski, performing selected pieces from the first two volumes of Crumb's cycle "Makrokosmos" (1972–1973) and, in the second half, Rzewski's work for speaking pianist, "De Profundis" (1992). These are pieces in which Reinis will also use his own voice in front of an audience for the first time, performing the vocal parts written into the composers' scores.

Tickets for Reinis Zariņš's concert at Hanzas perons on 15 November are available through the Biļešu Paradīze network. Ticket prices will rise as the concert date approaches. A limited number of seats is on sale.

Throughout 2026, in cooperation with Klavieru salons 152, Hanzas perons hosts a solo concert by an outstanding, distinctive and unusual pianist on (mostly) the third Sunday of every month, with the series bringing together both Latvian and internationally renowned artists. The first months of the year already brought concerts by the Swiss-born pianist, composer and improviser Sylvie Courvoisier and by Rihards Plešanovs, the latter performing Dmitri Shostakovich's 24 Preludes and Fugues (Op. 87) in a single evening. In March, American pianist Adam Tendler gave the European premiere of "Inheritances", the strikingly moving, GRAMMY-nominated programme dedicated to the memory of his father. The brighter months of the year also brought concerts by Vanessa Wagner, Robert Fleitz, John Kameel Farah, Bugge Wesseltoft and David Moore, also known as Bing & Ruth.
