Enduring Figures. HOROS Contemporary Dance Festival at Hanzas Perons

Enduring Figures is a gentle, pulsating experience of dance and music rooted in the traditions of partner dancing. Inspired by Lindy Hop, slow drag, and the principles of early jazz dance, the performance explores rhythm, intimacy, and the dynamic interplay between leading and following in movement.

The choreography has emerged from a long-term shared dancing practice, highlighting the social significance of partner dance. At its core are rhythm, closeness, and the syncopated relationship between leading and following. The performance brings together history, tradition, somatic fiction, enduring and fleeting figures, and passion—the very essence of the dance floor.

The festival's name, HOROS (derived from the Greek words χορός and χώρος, meaning dance and space), reflects its commitment to creating spaces for contemporary dance. Initiated and organised by the Latvian dance organisation Tuvumi, the festival aims to foster the development of contemporary dance in Latvia. Since its launch in 2022, HOROS has taken place in Aizpute; this year, the festival moves to Riga. The 2026 festival theme is "Between People. What Remains."

Enduring Figures will be performed on 31 July at Hanzas Perons. Tickets are available through the Biļešu Paradīze ticketing network. Ticket prices will increase closer to the performance date.

Festival passes, as well as one-day tickets covering both performances on 30 July or 31 July, are also available.
